Positive Training For Your Dog. Say Yes!
Rest assured that your baby is in the careful hands of Robyn Shepherd, Missoula's premier and elite dog trainer. Robyn has trained and taught dogs across Montana with her unique approach of positive training. She feels it is crucial to the human / dog relationship for an open communication dialog between dog and human vs human and dog. Breaching the communication bridge between a dog and their human can be tricky. A dog may not understand what is being asked of him, or he may be uncomfortable about something in the environment and do behaviors indicating his confusion and discomfort. Often humans will treat this as a "failure to obey", and use verbal and physical punishment in an attempt to make the dog obey. This results in frustration for dog and human alike, a lack in progress in training and often creates a dog that is perceived to have "behavioral problems'. Yes! Positive training for your dog utilizes a positive approach to ensure that your dog is properly trained creating a happy and healthy home environment for everybody! Boarding and doggy day care options are now available for small to medium dogs, space is very limited so reserve yours today!
Robyn's primary goal is to support a positive, fulfilling canine - human relationship by teaching better canine communication skills to humans, and kindly, gently teaching dogs how to behave in ways that are desirable to the humans with whom they share their lives.
Some problem behaviors that Robyn treats include housebreaking, reactivity to other dogs or humans, fears, phobias, separation anxiety, nuisance barking, digging, chewing, destroying objects, jumping, mouthing or biting!
Robyn also does puppy and basic obiedience training, which is highly recommended at the beginning of any new human - dog relationship to avoid future misunderstanding. Starting training at an early age is important to prevent problem behaviors from manifesting in the first place.
Training can take place at the client's home, in a local park, as well as environment specific desensitization training, which can take place wherever the dog is reacting undesirably in response to environmental stimuli.
